WHEN WILL CALLS END?
HOW DO DEBT RELIEF COMPANIES REALLY ADDRESS COLLECTION CALLS?
Congress has found that: "Abusive debt collection practices contribute to the number of personal bankruptcies, to marital instability, to the loss of jobs, and to invasions of individual privacy." 15 USC 1692(a).
In fact, getting rid of harassing collection calls is what drives many consumers to enter debt resolution or even bankruptcy. So what is a consumer to do to avoid this nightmare?
Most consumers look to debt relief agencies to help them get rid of debt. TV and radio are full of debt relief ads offering to "stop harassing calls". But a closer online look at their FAQs reveals it could take up to 3 months or more (if at all) after joining most debt relief programs for the calls to end. In the meantime, the phone rings and rings, creating mounting tension in the family and embarrassing situations when friends and neighbors are present.

FREEDOM DEBT RELIEF FAQ:
Q. “Will debt collectors call me?
A. There are federal and state laws designed to protect you from collections harassment, but the fact is most of our clients will experience some collections calls. Our goal is to get your creditors to call Freedom Debt Relief, not you.” https://www.freedomdebtrelief.com/
FROM GRT FINANCIAL:
“Tired of being harassed by debt collectors?
Our trained staff can assist you in drafting a cease and desist letter, a demand for verification of your debts, or identify other areas where you can assert your rights as a consumer. In serious situations where a violation of the law has occurred, we will put you in touch with an attorney…”. http://www.grtfinancial.com/consumer-protection
FROM RESCUE ONE FINANCIAL FAQ:
Q. “Can Rescue One Financial stop my creditors from calling?
A. No, Rescue One Financial cannot stop your creditors from contacting you. However there are laws enacted to help with harassment by third by collection agencies. It is important to remember that all collections agencies must adhere to principals laid out by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.” https://rescueonefinancial.com/
FROM CENTURY NEGOTIATIONS, INC:
FAQs - No mention of collection calls.
FROM DEBT COUNSELING CORP:
Q. Once I enroll in the Debt Management Program, will creditors still call me looking for payment?
A. Within three months of making three consecutive, on-time payments on our Program, most accounts will "re-age" and will be brought current. This puts an end to those stressful phone calls. In the meantime, if your creditors should call you, you should simply state that you are enrolled in our Program, and direct the caller to our Customer Care Department. http://www.debtcounselingcorp.org/index.cfm/p/pages.faq.htm
BOTTOM LINE: Check agency’s FAQs, ASK questions and get answers in writing! If your choice of an agency doesn’t give you a satisfactory answer, ask them for DAAN or contact a debt relief agency that REALLY cares enough to offer a tangible, collection call SOLUTION…DAAN.
DAAN is a product designed to end your largest fear: harassing collection calls. The DAAN system includes a home transmitter Module that ends those troubling calls to the family.
For standard landline and computer-assisted systems like Magic Jack, Ooma, etc.
Originally (circa 2004), DAAN was developed by an attorney so consumer bankruptcy attorneys could provide their clients with that "fresh start" they promise, not weeks or months after filing bankruptcy, but the moment they got home from their first visit with their attorney. DAAN worked so well, it was adapted to solve the same problem (collection call harassment) for people who entered debt relief programs and is now available ONLY through licensed debt relief agencies.
